Hi, my name is Margie and I'm a beautiful chocolate lab (mix?). I'm probably about 2-3 years old. The shelter staff says I will be a fantastic addition to just about any family. I have an active side so can be your running/playing buddy, but also would love to cuddle up with you and watch a movie. I love people and dogs alike and think kids are fun. I'm not really sure how I ended up in a shelter, but I'm not letting it get me down. The staff here is really nice to me, but I really want a family of my very own. You should come meet me, you won't be sorry. The shelter staff says I'm pretty irresistable! Want to know more about me, or welcome me into your home? Please contact Gonzales Dog Adoptions, Inc. We are soooo excited to announce that the city has granted GDA a contract to continue to manage the city shelter for them. It has been an extremely challenging, tiring, gratifying, and uplifting experience for the volunteers of our group.....especially Keiko and Lance, the heart and soul of GDA. We have been humbled by the support shown to us by our communities (both the local community at large and an amazing community of dog lovers that has no physical boundaries!) as well as by area and national rescue groups. Our shelter dogs are safe now and will remain so because of everyone's amazing efforts. So many wonderful dogs found great forever homes this month and many were taken in by generous rescue groups in larger towns to give them better chances of them too finding their forever homes. We know we will have to continue network and spread the word like never before to manage our shelter population as more dogs in need show up at the shelter everyday, but we are ready and are honored to be allowed to continue to fight for our homeless dogs and keep Gonzales a no-kill shelter. THANK YOU EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU FOR THE SUPPORT YOU HAVE SHOWN US DURING OUR TIME OF GREATEST NEED!!!!
Great news!!!!....Tracy's Dogs, a national rescue group, heard about our overcrowding issues and has stepped up in a BIG way to help us and our deserving dogs. This Friday (5/18), Tracy's Dogs is taking 20!!! of our dogs on a road trip to Colorado for a big adoption event at a Petsmart, from there, any dogs that haven't yet been adopted will travel on to Chicago for another adoption event. If any of our pooches still haven't found their forever homes, rescue groups in the area are ready to foster whoever remains until they can find great forever homes in the area. Such an amazing group and we are so glad to have their support!
